Questions About Teen Therapy
How long does teen therapy take?
The length of therapy depends on what your teen is dealing with. Some teens feel better after just a few sessions, while others may need longer to work through deeper issues. The therapist will regularly check in with both you and your teen to make sure progress is being made and that you are happy with how it’s going.
What can my teen expect in their first session?
In the first session, the therapist will focus on getting to know your teen, what’s been challenging for them, and their goals for therapy. It’s a safe, private space for your teen to express themselves. There’s no pressure—they can share at their own pace.
Is teen therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. Everything your teen shares stays between them and their therapist, except in rare situations where safety is a concern. The therapist will go over confidentiality rules in the first session, so both you and your teen can feel comfortable.
How do we know if therapy is working?
Therapy takes time, but many teens start to notice improvements after a few sessions. They may feel less anxious, more confident, or more able to handle stress. The therapist will help track progress and adjust the plan as needed.
What if my teen doesn’t feel comfortable with the therapist?
